Learn from my experience of moving to new office in Ahmedabad

I am here going to write some important things you to take care while upgrading or updating your office or moving your office or shifting your office in another location .

I just had shifted my “LetsNurture” office near to drive-in road from Ghatlodia. As company is growing it was very much required to shift to new location. But during this whole pragmatic matter I have been burst mentally.

When you are moving to office

  • Start looking at office before 3 months of your actually relocation date. And if it is urgent give full concentration on selecting right location.
  • Take your enough time to see different locations and narrow suitable location. Do not select office without seeing at least 15-20 offices in different area.
  • Compare rents in all different area and decide depending upon different factors.
  • Check parking facility is available or not.
  • Check internet availability
  • Inquire about electricity problems. there are many buildings where electricity problem is common problem. So make sure you are not being trapped in those kind of building.
  • If you are selecting office with furniture then check each furniture when you view property .Do not forget to check termite problem it is common in furnished offices. ( I missed to look office furniture closely and it cost me a lot in terms of satisfaction) . Check all drawer, tables because if your intention is to save money on furniture and if you do not check furniture well you will have to spend time and money both in remodelling and renovating furniture.
  • Moisture is also another thing that you should look before selecting office. Make 2-3 visits before selecting property and check moisture in wall. Moisture can cause lot of problems.
  • Makesure lift is working properly , inquire about it with 2-3 different people of the same building.

Now if you have selected office after checking all above things

  • Get your internet connection and networking done before 2 days and test all network before you getting in to office
  • Make sure every small furniture work is done before you move into office
  • If you want to change lighting direction or anything related to electricity please finish before you move into office
  • Have one mock up round in office with other office workers to have suggestion for comfort. And before actual move finish all changes.
  • Must have your company board and address at the office before you move into office.

Actually I have missed lot of things from above list and I had faced lot of problems in shifting my office. And I know how difficult it is for start-up company to move office with limited budget and tiny timings for relocation.

Embarrassing Situations!

A very shy guy goes into a bar and sees a beautiful woman sitting at the other end. After an hour of gathering up his courage he finally goes over to her and asks, tentatively, "Um, would you mind if I chatted with you for a while?" To which she responds by yelling, at the top of her lungs, "No, I won't sleep with you tonight!" By now, the entire bar is staring at them. Naturally, the guy is hopelessly and completely embarrassed and he slinks back to his table. After a few minutes, the woman walks over to him and apologizes. She smiles at him and says, "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. You see, I'm a graduate student in psychology and I'm studying how people respond to embarrassing situations." To which he responds, at the top of his lungs, "What do you mean $200!"

Cadbury- Amazing marketing and threat to Indian tradition

In last month again new cadbury marketing campaign is started "subh aramabh". Which means one must buy any sweet on any new start. And proposing to buy Cadbury for it.

If you have read earlier about my blog post on cadbury marketing style in India and how they are vanishing indian tradition comfertably one by one.
This new marketing campaign of Subh arambh is also for the same. Usually In India people use traditional sweet on any new start now cadbury want us to replace it with dairy milk chocolates.

I am really impressed with the marketing style and operating style of cadbury in India. And I am sure somewhere it needs detailed observation and lot of reasoning .
But Yes , I am not very happy if Indian are going to forget tradional sweets and replace it with chocolates.

The Great Writer

Usually i dnt copy paste anything in my blog but few things i cant resist :) ..

-------------------------

The Great Writer
-------------------------

There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

When asked to define great, he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft writing error messages.

Reading Connect the dots

Reading connect the dots now days book by rashmi bansal ( Author of best seller stay hungry stay foolish).

Story of non-mba entrepreneurs who made their own way in life.. read 15 out of 20 dots till date.. yeah each story is inspirational and sure it can help someone somewhere..

There are few stories which is amazing like Dos plaza's ganpathy and others. As from being in IT background.. I like story of Suresh kamath laser inforsystems.
He is giving software solution at 1/10 quote of TCS and other company providing Almost same kind of solutions..

He has put a great logic behind remaining low margin. He said if i take large margin my customers will have to pay large amount and it will increase budget of customers company so they will charge more to their customers and so on.. this chain will end up to them at some point . It’s really true and even inspired me somewhere.

i wanted to remember Suresh kamath name and laser infosystem name for long time so I m writing this blog post...

One more interesting thing is that he is not taking only engineers in company most of the staff are bcom graduates, or even 12th pass also laser info system is hiring polio affected people and handicapped .. we can easily predict what this man is doing is very simple he is doing business as his own way and still being competitive to everyone . If any entrepreneur is reading this blog post you can now have confidence don’t compromise on your ethics.. your will will :)

Letsnurture with fun

It is near the end of the school year. The teacher has turned in the grades and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless because of this.

Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today."

Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question."

Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."

Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home."

Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."

Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."

Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy."

Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave."

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions.

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these bitches would keep their mouths shut!"

The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"

Johnny: "Tiger Woods. CAN I GO NOW?"

Nurture your self as a human being

In this life.. everyday we running for something that we never wanted :)
i know this will not acceptable by all .. but as of being in IT industry .. yes IT industry has given new wings to Indian youth .. they are now living with new era and i think living in a best possible amenities ..
But one other side is that One grocer will have more reputation in society then IT people why? we have islolated our self from the mainstream of life..

We do some charity and get satisfied with our self and feel proud our self but have we ever thought that what the exactly charity is? Giving 1000rs/- to any charitable trust will end our responsibility towards our nation? our society? our life? I have seen many guys (including me) that do charity and feel proud.. but have ever taken care of wasting energy in somewhere else?

if i take myself then i know that in a day i finish lot of things which is totally bad for society but very good for my self . Sometime unintentionally sometime intentionally we really hurt our self, our nature and our world.. and our small charity will not average our mistakes..

We are now trapped in a network of Social networking sites, Credit cards, hello tunes, bank balance, so called charities, Parties, Self development, self achievement .. inside one simple human is dieing slowly slowly ... ... Every company is targeting youth with fat salary and so they target IT/ITES people and we feel proud ourself that at the age of 25 we are having platinum credit card :) .. What kind of credit we are looking for?..

I believe its really a time to awaken now and work towards the true motto of human being. We as an educated and also with a good knowledge of latest technology .. should have more responsibility to change the society.. we can integrate everything and give maximum benefits people who really needs it.

Global warming is one of the serious issue (if you have not seen al gores' inconvinient truth please watch it once.) i know every single person can help in it.. by doin very small attempt .. and i am sure this would be the best charity you can do.. (yes no one will see that you have done this charity .. so praise seekers will have problem in initial stage) ..

its just a thought process of few minutes.. i will go back to work in a while.. but this kind of thoughts keeps human being and society alive.. if i repeat my self with this thinking i will definatley reach to a good end.

Have breakfast …or…. be breakfast Article by Dr. Y. L. R. Moorthi

[This is article i recieved from my friend... its really nice one and cant resist myself to post it in my blog]

A Very interesting article. Don’t miss it.

An extremely interesting article on market dynamics by an IIM prof. Thinks simply, but differently! Who sells the largest number of cameras in India ? Your guess is likely to be Sony, Canon or Nikon. Answer is none of the above. The winner is Nokia whose main line of business in India is not cameras but cell phones. Reason being cameras bundled with cell phones are outselling stand alone cameras. Now, what prevents the cell phone from replacing the camera outright? Nothing at all. One can only hope the Sonys and Canons are taking note.

Try this. Who is the biggest in music business in India ? You think it is HMV Sa-Re-Ga-Ma ? Sorry. The answer is Airtel. By selling caller tunes (that play for 30 seconds) Airtel makes more than what music companies make by selling music albums (that run for hours).

Incidentally Airtel is not in music business. It is the mobile service provider with the largest subscriber base in India . That sort of competitor is difficult to detect, even more difficult to beat (by the time you have identified him he has already gone past you). But if you imagine that Nokia and Bharti (Airtel's parent) are breathing easy you can't be farther from truth.

Nokia confessed that they all but missed the smartphone bus. They admit that Apple's Iphone and Google's Android can make life difficult in future. But you never thought Google was a mobile > company, did you? If these illustrations mean anything, there is a bigger game unfolding. It is not so much about mobile or music or camera or emails?

The "Mahabharat" (the great Indian epic battle) is about "what is tomorrow's personal digital device"? Will it be a souped up mobile or a palmtop with a telephone? All these are little wars that add up to that big battle. Hiding behind all these wars is a gem of a question – "who is my competitor?"

"What Apple did to Sony, Sony did to Kodak, explain?" The smart ones will get the answer almost immediately. Sony defined its market as audio (music from the walkman). They never expected an IT company like Apple to encroach into their audio domain. Come to think of it, is it really surprising? Apple as a computer maker has both audio and video capabilities. So what made Sony think he won't compete on pure audio? "Elementary Watson". So also Kodak defined its business as film cameras, Sony defines its businesses as "digital." In digital camera the two markets perfectly meshed.. Kodak was torn between going digital and sacrificing money on camera film or staying with films and getting left behind in digital technology.

Left undecided, it lost in both. It had to. It did not ask the question "who is my competitor for tomorrow?"

The same was true for IBM whose mainframe revenue prevented it from seeing the PC. The same was true of Bill Gates who declared "internet is a fad!" and then turned around to bundle the browser with windows to bury Netscape. The point is not who is today's competitor.

Today's competitor is obvious. Tomorrow's is not.

In 2008, who was the toughest competitor to British Airways in India ? Singapore airlines? Better still, Indian airlines? Maybe, but there are better answers. There are competitors that can hurt all these airlines and others not mentioned. The answer is videoconferencing and telepresence services of HP and Cisco. Travel dropped due to recession. Senior IT executives in India and abroad were compelled by their head quarters to use videoconferencing to shrink travel budget. So much so, that the mad scramble for American visas from Indian techies was nowhere in sight in 2008. ( India has a quota of something like 65,000 visas to the U..S. They were going a-begging. Blame it on recession!). So far so good. But to think that the airlines will be back in business post recession is something I would not bet on. In short term yes. In long term a resounding no. Remember, if there is one place where Newton 's law of gravity is applicable besides physics it is in electronic hardware. Between 1977 and 1991 the prices of the now dead VCR (parent of Blue-Ray disc player) crashed to one-third of its original level in India . PC's price dropped from hundreds of thousands of rupees to tens of thousands. If this trend repeats then telepresence prices will also crash. Imagine the fate of airlines then. As it is not many are making money. Then it will surely be RIP!

India has two passions. Films and cricket. The two markets were distinctly different. So were the icons. The cricket gods were Sachin and Sehwag. The filmi gods were the Khans (Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and the other Khans who followed suit). That was, when cricket was fundamentally test cricket or at best 50 over cricket. Then came IPL and the two markets collapsed into one. IPL brought cricket down to 20 overs. Suddenly an IPL match was reduced to the length of a 3 hour movie. Cricket became film's competitor. On the eve of IPL matches movie halls ran empty. Desperate multiplex owners requisitioned the rights for screening IPL matches at movie halls to hang on to the audience. If IPL were to become the mainstay of cricket, as it is likely to be, films have to sequence their releases so as not clash with IPL matches. As far as the audience is concerned both are what in India are called 3 hour tamasha" (entertainment) . Cricket season might push films out of the market.

Look at the products that vanished from India in the last 20 years. When did you last see a black and white movie? When did you last use a fountain pen? When did you last type on a typewriter? The answer for all the above is "I don't remember!" For some time there was a mild substitute for the typewriter called electronic typewriter that had limited memory. Then came the computer and mowed them all. Today most technologically challenged guys use the computer as an upgraded typewriter. Typewriters per se are nowhere to be seen.

One last illustration. 20 years back what were Indians using to wake them up in the morning? The answer is "alarm clock." The alarm clock was a monster made of mechanical springs. It had to be physically keyed every day to keep it running. It made so much noise by way of alarm, that it woke you up and the rest of the colony. Then came quartz clocks which were sleeker. They were much more gentle though still quaintly called "alarms." What do we use today for waking up in the morning? Cellphone! An entire industry of clocks disappeared without warning thanks to cell phones. Big watch companies like Titan were the losers. You never know in which bush your competitor is hiding!

On a lighter vein, who are the competitors for authors? Joke spewing machines? (Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, himself a Pole, tagged a Polish joke telling machine to a telephone much to the mirth of Silicon Valley ). Or will the competition be story telling robots? Future is scary! The boss of an IT company once said something interesting about the animal called competition. He said "Have breakfast …or…. be breakfast"! That sums it up rather neatly.

Growth Story National handloom market Ahmedabad

Last Sunday in evening we were out for just roaming in Ahmedabad some shopping just for usual..

Near law garden we went to national handloom market... and I was stunned that they have acquired one more building and established super market there... In Last 5 years this marwari group has done a tremendous progress. I do not know about their operations in other states or cities. But in Ahmedabad it’s clear that everyone knows that how fast they are growing.

In Early days it was on national handloom market for cloths.. then after they started selling vegetables, and plastic items ... soon after they acquire 4 floor building and started selling chappals, articles, wall pieces, plastic, crockery, cloths, curtain, ladies and gents garments, wooden art works and many more..

After that within a year they acquire one more building besides their original national handloom building. And made restaurant, fast food and sweet shop. Isn't it amazing? How clever the idea it was.. Getting all from it.

Now they have huge building for national handloom market and with 4 storey. Each store with different set of items they are selling. And just beside to they have this new building now Super market.. they are going on kishore biyani way.. i believe.. :)

hats of to kishore biyani

yesterday me and my wife was out for some shopping .. nothing special just few usual... We went to big bazaar, central mall, pantaloon, home town, brand factor.. while returning one thought sparked .. do you know all this malls belongs to only one man Kishor Biyani and his group name is Future Group.

Its amazing that now kishore biyani knows all most everything about consumer apatite , indian consumer's buying pattern. ..

let me explain few things.. i am really happy that indian business mind is growing faster then any other countries..

(I am only talking about growth in ahmedabad) Intially Future group had only Pantaloons in Ahmedabad.. and we all know it was only for higher middle class and rich people, Middle class, lower middle class was out of reach.
But no one really thought that highest consumption power is in Middle class consumer.

Mr. Kishore Biyani just started BIG BAZAAR and it has changed the scenario in whole india, It has made people to walk in to mall everyday.. and mall culture established perfectly.

Now it was no easy to reach to all audiances... They made Specific Malls, HOME TOWN for Furniture, Ezone For Electronics, FOOD BAZAAR for food and vegetables.... this made people to walk in to multiple malls but almost all belong to mr. Kishor Biyani...

Now another point.... Big Malls are not able to catch all consumer daily.. Another plan executed..
"FAIR PRICE" they have opened small shops name FAIR PRICE .. it is grocerry shop and almost every where in Ahmedabad , same like local grocer. Idea succed now customers are going every where.. in bigbazaar for weekend shopping, hometown for furniture and bathrrom furnishings, ezone for electronics..... they even don't know that all is one. :)

Another point.. here

Kishore sir has main business is retail now but his main business was garments.. Now how they are making pattern here.. .lets check..

-----------------------------For status and people who love to spend money--------
Pantallon Show room
Provogue Show room
RIG show room

--> We konw all cloths are never get sold in garments.. but how to sell them to stock clearing?

They stock all branded but out fashioned or stock clearing cloths in

Pantaloon Factory OUTLETS
Brand Factory...

here whole middle class will go and shop why? they are satisfying their ego to wear the same cloths that richer people are wearing.. so almost everything here are becoming out of stock :) isnt it amazing that Furture group is doing the good business yes.. one unethical thing is that Indian middle class is most suffered class and they are being targetted for business only but ignored in all other things.. yes i am sure this class is ignored more then BPL class.. and this group(not only this but all business group nowdays) is trying to get everything out of middle class. And not letting them to save enough. (anyway its another topic)

Currently I checked one another pattern.. Future group changes its faces in every few months to look fresher and get more audiences ...
how ? They are keeping new names of malls like home town, ezone, food bazar, brand factory, central mall.... every 6 month they make "new brand image" in consumer mind.. to look fresh and new....

Simlary they are doing in Cloths .. they are keep making new brands frequently like john major,RIG, umm and mane more..... so people have wide range and they feel they are now wearing branded cloths..

This is amazing and its really good that Indian Businessman can change everything as per its own idea.. he has changed almost every body's mind set about purchasing, shopping, spending :)

Hates of to you mr.Kishore Biyani
